ROMPIN: A couple were killed and their nine-year-old son suffered serious injuries in an accident involving four vehicles at KM116 Jalan Kuantan-Johor Baru near here today.
Car driver Mohd Shafiee Ngah, 50, died while receiving treatment at Rompin Hospital while his wife Norhazaimi Abd Wahab, 48, died at the scene in the 12.30pm incident.
The deceased's son, Muhammad Faris was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan for treatment.
A police spokesman said the accident occurred when an oncoming Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck lost control and hit a Toyota Avanza, which was travelling in front of Shafiee's Toyota Unser.
"Shafie then crashed his multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) into the Triton before hitting an oncoming Perodua Viva. The other vehicles' drivers and passengers escaped with light injuries." he said.
