1. WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS AIM?
To enter the Ironman in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. When it comes to big races, it’s not just speed and power that you need to hone. These races are expensive; even a bicycle for a triathlon costs about RM20,000. So I’m putting that on hold first and focusing on ultra-trail runs now. It’s a cheaper sport.
2. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE WORKOUT?
The brick, which consists of a bike/run workout because it helps me improve both disciplines and also helps with transition timing.
3. IS THERE A JUNK FOOD YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT?
No. I don’t even take white sugar or condensed milk. My family and I eat clean.
4. HOW LONG DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?
Six to eight hours.
5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FITNESS APP / FITNESS TRACKER?
Garmin Fenix 3 HR. It’s powerful and very light on my wrist.
6. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER WAKING UP IN THE MORNING?
Drink warm water, go to the toilet and have a cup of strong coffee.
7. HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU WORK OUT IN A WEEK?
Twenty-four hours, at least.
8. YOUR FAVOURITE PRE-EXERCISE/ PRE-RACE FUEL?
Homemade energy bar by the Marathon Baker. The bars have healthy ingredients like honey, dates and figs which help my long runs.
9. HOW DO YOU RECOVER FROM A HARD WORKOUT?
With a lot of good food and rest.
10. YOUR FAVOURITE SOURCES OF PROTEIN?
Egg and mutton. But I will stop taking red meat two weeks before a race.
11. WHAT DO YOU RUN IN?
Hoka One One Speedgoat. I used it at the MesaStila Peaks Challenge last October and I felt like I was bouncing off the ground.
