MASwings to reduce flight frequencies on five routes

KOTA KINABALU: Regional carrier MASwings will temporarily reduce flight frequencies on five routes starting next week.

The move is to allow the carrier’s fleet to undergo a mandatory maintenance programme, which will run from Feb 20 to year’s end, the airline said in a statement here.

The routes affected are Kota Kinabalu (KK) – Lahad Datu, KK – Sandakan, KK – Miri, Miri – Limbang and Miri – Labuan, with each sector having seven flights reduced from their weekly frequency.

“The flight frequency of the routes will be reduced by one on a daily basis.

“Eight ATR aircraft will be (undergoing) heavy maintenance visits this year, a mandatory (procedure) by the aircraft manufacturer to ensure (that aircraft meet their) airworthiness requirements and standards.

“MASwings obtained necessary approval from the Transportation Ministry to reduce flight frequencies of selected routes prior to this announcement,” the company said.
