SHAH ALAM: Repair work on a burst main water pipe in Section 15, which triggered a temporary disruption in water supply to 70,000 accounts in Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya since yesterday, (Tuesday), is halfway completed.
Air Selangor Group corporate communications head Amin Lin Abdullah said the repair work on the damaged main water pipe, located behind the Carlsberg factory in Persiaran Selangor, currently stands at 45 per cent.
However, he could not determine exactly when it will be completed.
"We are trying our best to speed up the work. We will update on the progress from time to time. We have deployed our assets and relief water tankers to the affected areas. We have also activated central service centres, a jumbo water tank station as well as hydrants in several locations to make it convenient for consumers to get water supply," he said.
The central service centres are located at the Shah Alam City Council hall in Jalan Sungai Gabis in Section 27, here, and another in Jalan USJ 4/5, Subang Jaya. A jumbo water tank station is located at Jalan USJ 4/5.
The hydrants that can be used are at Jalan USJ 3/1G, Jalan USJ 3A (near the main road) and Jalan TP 2, Taman Perindustrian Sime UEP.
The disruption caused by the burst main water pipe occurred at 5pm yesterday, and saw some 40 areas affected.
The affected areas in Klang and Shah Alam are: Section 21, Section 22, Section 25, Section 26, Section 27, Section 28, Kampung Kebun Bunga, Kampung Baru Hicom, Subang Mas Batu 3, Batu 3 Shah Alam, Bukit Kemuning, Bukit Naga, Kampung Lombong, Jalan Kebun, UEP and USJ Subang, Section 32, Section 33, Putra Heights, Kampung Bukit Lanchong, Kampung Jawa, Bandar Putera, Taman Sentosa, Taman Maznah, Taman Samarind, Taman Batu 3, Taman Desa Latania, Taman Desa Kemuning and Jalan Mohd Sidin.
In Petaling Jaya, the areas involved are; USJ 1 up to USJ 27, Pinggiran USJ 1 up to Pinggiran USJ 3, TP 1 up to TP 7 (Taman Perindustrian UEP), Subang Heights, USJ Heights and USJ 3A up to USJ 3D.
