KUALA KANGSAR: Five people were seriously injured, while 14 others sustained minor injuries when the express bus they were travelling in rear-ended a lorry transporting rubber at Km257.7 of the North-South Highway (south-bound) near the Menora tunnel early this morning.
In the 2.15am incident, it is believed that the bus driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the lorry.
Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Department station chief Khairil Anuar Shaharuddin said a distress call was made at 2.35am and a team was deployed to the scene.
"Five of the express bus passengers suffered serious injuries, including broken legs, and 14 others suffered minor injuries.
"The drivers of both bus and lorry were not hurt.
“Victims were rushed to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh for treatment," he said when contacted.
