Claim of Umno-PAN tie up to destroy Pas in Kelantan 'slanderous', says Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today dismissed allegation that Umno and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) in Kelantan were cooperating to topple the Pas-led state government.

Describing the claim as a "slander", Azmin said the story was written in an attempt to divide and destroy the opposition pact, Pakatan Harapan.

"I would like to remind everyone to be aware about this type of slander. Ahead of the general election (this story was published) simply to create division within Pakatan Harapan.

"We must remember that we, the opposition had always stick to one aim, which is to conduct total reform in the country. This is our agenda, so I don't believe there's such a plan (in Kelantan)," he told reporters when met at the Pavilion Mall during the signing of his book titled "Membangun Bangsa - Catatan Permulaan Tentang Etika, Urus Tadbir dan Kenegaraan".

Recently, in a blog post by a "Kelantan political analyst" claimed that there was a secret discussion held between Kelantan Umno and Kelantan PAN to topple Pas by ensuring a three-cornered fights in the state.

Meanwhile, PAN Kelantan chairman Datuk Wan Rahim Wan Abdullah had also dismissed the allegation, saying that there was no secret discussion held between PAN and Umno.

Regardless of the allegation, Azmin who is also Gombak member of parliament said he believed that both Pas and PAN will not divert from their true struggle of toppling Umno.

"Pas and PAN may have their differences but they have the same goal which is to fight against Umno," he added.
