Startled robber stabs nurse during home invasion in Malacca

ALOR GAJAH: A freelance nurse was stabbed in the stomach by a robber who broke into her home in Kampung Panchor yesterday afternoon.

In the 2.30pm incident, the 26-year-old woman had returned home to dry her laundry not knowing that the man had entered the house.

The startled robber, in his bid to escape, then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her. She sustained a two centimetre-deep gash in her stomach from the attack.

Malacca Criminal Investigations Department chief Assistant Commissioner Kamaluddin Kassim said police believed the victim, Nurul Aimi Rahman, was stabbed by the robber who was attempting to escape after realising that she had returned home.

It was learnt that the victim had wanted to dry her laundry after coming back from her father's house in Taman Seri Pengkalan.

She opened the grill door at her kitchen, before bumping into the robber.

Kamaluddin said the suspect escaped empty handed and the victim was rushed to the Malacca Hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

Kamaluddin said the case has been classified as robbery and police were still hunting for the male robber.
