(Cycling) Italian Jakub Mareczko sprints to 7th stage victory at Le Tour de Langkawi

REMBAU: Jakub Mareczko supplied Wilier Triestina with their second stage win of the season after he secured seventh stage victory at the 2017 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), from Malacca to Rembau, Negri Sembilan (148.1km).

With a time of 3:23.45 seconds, the Italian sprinter edged stage two winner Travis McCabe of UnitedHealthCare Pro Cycling Team and Androni Giocattoli's Andrea Palini, in second and third, respectively.

South African Ryan Gibbons will wear the yellow jersey (General Classification) for a sixth consecutive start after extending his lead to 24 seconds, ahead of Isowhey Sports Swisswellness' Cameron and Italian Alberto Cecchin.

Mareczko, 22, overtakes Gibbons to steal the teal jersey (Sprint Competition) by a one-point advantage.

John Kronborg Ebsen secured the polka dot jersey (King of Mountain) for the sixth time at the 22nd edition, with seven points ahead of Dimension Data and stage four winner Mekseb Debesay.

Nippo-Vini Fantini's Hidrto Nakane will start in the white jersey (Asian Rider Overall) on Wednesday.

Best Malaysian Rider Overall goes to Mohd Shahrul Mat Amin.

The eighth and final stage of the LTdL will see riders covering 121km from Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur, to Putrajaya on March 1.
