SJIIM offers IB Diploma scholarship

ST JOSEPH’s Institution International Malaysia (SJIIM), which will be having its first elementary and high school intakes in August, has launched a scholarship programme worth RM3 million for students to study the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Encompassing a period of two years, each scholarship will cover up to 100 per cent of the cost of study and other related expenses for 12 deserving Year 12 students (16 year olds) who will be vetted through a merit-based assessment.

The high school principal of SJIIM Stuart Glascott said the IB scholarship fund will go a long way in granting more talented students a chance to reap the benefits of a quality IBDP Programme.

"The IB Diploma Programme is widely recognised as one of the world’s most challenging educational programmes. It focuses on personal, social and academic development and is globally recognised by leading universities for the holistic and rigorous education it provides. Success in the IBDP offers students the opportunity to gain access to the best universities in the world," he said.

On top of that, Glascott said that as a Lasallian school, all SJIIM students will have many opportunities to participate in service learning locally and in the region so that they can make a difference in the lives of others.

Located next to the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, SJIIM - a brother school to St Joseph's Institution and SJI INternational Singapore - will be providing Lassalian holistic education for three to 18 year olds. To be operated by Lasallian Asian partnerships for International Schools (LAPIS), SJIIM offers International Primary Curriculum, Singapore Math, a Mandarin programme as well as International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and IB Diploma Programme. The Tropicana PJ Campus is targeted to accommodate up to 1,500 local and international students.

The RM3 million fund for the IB Scholarship Programme was donated by Tropicana Foundation - a charity organisation formed by Tropicana Corporation Berhad and LAPIS - with each contributing RM1.5 million respectively.

Applications close on Feb 19. For more information, visit http://www.sji-international.edu.my/information-for-parents/scholarship-....
