Nine scholarship spots available for Malaysian students at United World College 2024 Intake

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian students can now apply to United World College (UWC) for the 2024 intake, with nine scholarship spots yet to be filled.

Interested students are required to have completed their Form 5 or equivalent level of studies in Malaysia and be between the ages of 16 and 19 as of Aug 1, 2024.

"UWC offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which encourages students to explore a range of subjects and ideas while learning about the importance of activity and service in the community.

"Scholarships will be awarded to qualified and deserving candidates who will be evaluated on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership potential and commitment to global issues," the statement read.

UWC said that upon completing the IBDP programme, students can progress to any country that recognises the programme, including the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Canada.

Notable graduates from UWC include the current King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland and Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, Marina Catena.

UWC Malaysia urged interested students to submit their applications before the Dec 1 deadline.

Detailed application instructions, including forms and guidelines, are available on the UWC Malaysia website at www.my.uwc.org.

Founded in 1962, UWC is a global education movement that operates a network of 18 schools and colleges on four continents, also running the world's most extensive scholarship programme in international secondary education.
