(Actionline) Problems with cash-deposit machines

A Hong Leong Bank customer has complained of the bank’s cash deposit machine aborting his transaction at two branches in SS15 Subang Jaya and Paramount Garden.

Ganesh said this happened a few times last year and in early January.

He complained that the money was stuck and that it had taken the bank three days to credit the sum accordingly.

Ganesh claimed that other customers he had spoken to said they had experienced similar troubles on an almost daily basis, and that the machines were outdated.

“It happened to me again this morning (Jan 10) and the bank does not do much to resolve issues like this.

“Appreciate if this could be solved as I don’t want this dilemma to hurt others. Thanks,” he said.

ACTIONLINE:

A Hong Leong Bank spokesman said they have carried out investigations at the branches involved, and found that there were no problems at the Paramount Garden branch, while the one at Subang Jaya had issues from Jan 1 to 3.

The spokesman said with regard to the complaints on the cash deposit machine, the customers had been refunded by the branch within a day of the date of the complaint or transaction date.

She, however, stated that one person, who had filed a complaint on Jan 1, was only refunded on Jan 4, as Jan 1 and 2 were not working days.

She said, otherwise the refund would have been credited on Jan 3.

“We do endeavour to resolve the matters and refund the customers as soon as possible.

However, in instances where the branches are closed, it does take a bit more time.

“I do hope this clarifies the matter and that the customer’s issue has been resolved and we can close this conversation,” she said in a statement.

The spokesman said any further problems can be directed to the customer service helpline at 1800-38-8888.
