(Golf) Zanotti wins 2017 Maybank Championship

KUALA LUMPUR: After three missed cuts at the beginning of the year, Paraguayan professional Fabrizio Zanotti takes the win at the second edition of the Maybank Championship at the Saujana Golf and Country Club, just one-stroke ahead of America's David Lipsky.

The 33-year-old takes an eagle on the 18th for a bogey-free round of 63, playing to an aggregate of 19-under-par 269 for his second European Tour win and walks away with US$500,000 (RM2,219,400).

Asian Tour Order of Merit 2015 winner, Lipsky felt the pressure to close on par at 18-under-par 270.

Day two leader, Bernd Wiesberger of Austria is in third at an aggregate of 17-under-par 271 after two consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes but salvaged his round with an eagle on the eighth.

Ben Leong appeared as the best finisher for Malaysia at tied 12th with a combined total of nine-under-par 279, followed by amateur Daeng Abdul Rahman, Gavin Kyle Green, Nicholas Fung, Danny Chia and Arie Irawan.
