J-Revolusi bulldozes through box office, earns RM1.4 mil in 3 days

KUALA LUMPUR: Action flick J-Revolusi raked in RM1.4 million at the box office after just three days of screening.

Produced by Grand Brilliance and Infinitus Productions, it premiered last Thursday.

"We're super excited to see such a good response from moviegoers. The risk we took when embarking on this project was worth it," said Primeworks Studios' chief executive officer, Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar, when contacted today.

"We even hired a stunt director from Hong Kong who had worked in the popular martial arts movie Ip Man, and has collaborated with stars like Aaron Kwok.

"It's just the first weekend, and we are extremely grateful to all who (have been watching the film)," he added.

Izham also said most of the comments he has heard about J-Revolusi express how impressed the audience were with the acting by the cast.

"Moviegoers were impressed with Izara (Aishah)’s performance in the movie. Zul (Ariffin, who rose to prominence through his appearance in a romantic TV drama series) also took the audience by surprise.

“Much of the comic relief came from Azad Jasmin, which delighted many. And Farid Kamil as the baddie was also impressive.

"I've been informed that most enjoyed the battle of fists scene between Zul’s and Farid's characters,” he said.

Izham is also hopeful that J-Revolusi has, in its small way, encouraged people to return to the cinema.

"I hope the movie will serve as an inspiration for others to come out with films that attract audiences to the cinemas.

On a possible sequel, Izham said there are plans to make J-Revolusi a huge franchise, and a follow-up is definitely on the cards.

"In fact, prior to the movie’s release, we were discussing the possibility of a spin-off in the form of a TV series.

"We haven't actually discussed the matter, but basically, that's what we were thinking our next move (would be)," added Izham excitedly.

He also said that audiences who stay until the end credits would notice the name of Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, who acts as the adviser for J-Revolusi.

"J-Revolusi is a film for everyone, not just targeted at one particular market segment," Izham added.

J-Revolusi is currently screening in more than 120 cinemas nationwide.
