SHAH ALAM: Police earlier today arrested a man in Ampang over the abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh.

The suspect, aged 32, was nabbed at 3.30am after he made a ransom demand to Koh’s family in exchange for his release.

Selangor police chief Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said police have acquired a four-day remand order against the man from the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court to facilitate investigations under Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction and Section 385 of the same code for extortion.

“In connection with the kidnapping case of a pastor in Petaling Jaya on Feb 13, police have arrested a suspect in Ampang at 3.30am today.

“The suspect had contacted the victim’s family a day earlier (Wednesday) and asked for an amount of ransom in exchange for his release,” Abdul Samah said in a statement.

However, it was not ascertained if police have managed to determine what happened to the pastor or his whereabouts.

Abdul Samah said investigations into case was still on-going, and urged the public to not make any speculation.

He said those who have any information that can assist investigations are urged to contact police.

It was reported that Koh, 62, was abducted by a group of men on Feb 13 when he was driving in Kelana Jaya.
