Family of nine left homeless after Langkawi blaze

LANGKAWI: A family of nine was left destitute after their home and possessions were completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Lubuk Buaya, Kedawang, early today.

All members of the family, however, escaped unhurt in the 12.45am incident.

State Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Nur Hafizah Muhammad Lukman said they received a distress call at about 12.58am and firefighters arrived at the scene 17 minutes later.

"When the crew arrived, the house was already engulfed in fire and they took about one hour to control the flames.

"Investigation to identify the cause of the fire is ongoing and the amount of losses is yet to be ascertained," she said.
