AFC set June 8 for Malaysia-North Korea Asian Cup qualifier

BUKIT JALIL: The postponed Asian Cup Qualifying Group B match between North Korea and Malaysia will take place on June 8.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have informed the North Korea FA (NKFA) to propose a neutral venue for the match, which was originally scheduled in Pyongyang on March 28.

"NKFA have until April 14 to propose a neutral venue," said AFC general-secretary Datuk Windsor Paul John at the AFC headquarters today.

"NKFA must also come up with security and entry guarantees when they propose a neutral venue to AFC in the event the diplomatic situation between both governments does not return to normal."

Windsor said Asian Cup Qualifiers must follow the match sequence of the tournament.

"June 8 is the only available FIFA date ahead of the next Asian Cup Qualifying matches on June 13." Windsor added.
