Fifty nine SPM candidates in Perlis score straight A's

KANGAR: Fifty-nine candidates in Perlis scored straight A’s in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) for 2016.

State Education Department director Izmi Ismail, announcing the state SPM results, said this was an increase from 41 candidates scored the same results in 2015.

He said 28 of the top scorers came from SMK Derma.

“The state national average grade (GPN) has improved from 5.41 in 2015 to 5.29 last year,” he said at SMK Derma, here today.

Izmi said a total of 3,623 candidates sat for the SPM exam in Perlis last year.

Besides SMK Derma, the other four top schools for SPM in Perlis were SMK Sains Tuanku Syed Putra, SMK Agama Perempuan Kangar, SMK Agama Arau and SMK Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen, he said.
