MALACCA: A state DAP committee member as well as a businessman were today remanded for three days over a cheating case involving a Kelantan land deal five years ago.
The duo, aged 29 and 54, were produced in court at 8.30am. The remand order was issued by magistrate Analia Kamaruddin.
Ex-Malacca DAP chairman Goh Leong San, in the state assembly sitting earlier this month, caused a stir when he revealed that two DAP members had been involved in what he described as ‘corruption and intimidation.’
Three Malacca smallholders allegedly lost almost RM1 million to the DAP man as well as another Opposition member in the 2012 land deal.
At the same assembly sitting, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron clarified that the report was lodged by a 50-year-old farmer.
The farmer had claimed that he was cheated of some RM976,300 by the duo involving a 202-hectare plot of land in a forest reserve in Kelantan.
