Tungku assemblyman Mohd Suhaili Said dies in KL at 56

KOTA KINABALU: Tungku assemblyman Datuk Mohd Suhaili Said passed away at the Gleaneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, today. He was 56.

Suhaili’s wife, Datin Dayang Sofia Datu Jamiuddin, and their children were beside him when he passed away at about 3.10pm.

His brother, Muhamad Ghazali Said, said Suhaili had been warded at the Gleaneagles Intensive Care Unit since March 21.

“I haven’t received details on his death, but my brother suffered from heart problems and often went for treatment.

“My sister-in-law and three of their children were by his side (when he died),” he said, adding that the couple have six children.

Ghazali said Suhaili, who was Umno Silam deputy chief and Sabah Religious Council chairman, had flown to Kuala Lumpur on March 20 to attend a Felda board of directors meeting.

It was then that Suhaili fell ill, and was admitted to hospital the following day.

Ghazali said the family is arranging for the body to be flown back tonight, and added that the burial will take place at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kampung Segangan in Tungku, Lahad Datu.
