Street light woes

Sabah, are hopeful that the authorities will fix a street light at the residential area’s main road, which has not been working for the past few years.

Maslina Abdul Rahman, 49, said the lamp post would flicker on and off, and at times not work at all.

Part of the pole was rusty and she was afraid it might be a safety hazard to people.

She said poor maintenance was also evident when birds were found nesting in the street light’s fuse box.

“There are five houses in the area and it becomes very dark as there is no light.

“Apart from us, it is also inconvenient for others who pass through the area.” she said.

ACTIONLINE

Putatan District council has started to take action following notification of the issue.

Its spokesperson said the authority had contacted the complainant and inspected the lamp post.

“The council is waiting for a new pole from Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (for the installation).

“We will update Maslina about the progress from time to time.”
