LRT Kelana Jaya line down, hundreds of commuters stranded

KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of LRT commuters were stranded Friday as the Rapid KL’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) service for the Kelana Jaya line came to a halt due to a technical glitch.

The glitch had occurred at about 8.20pm tonight.

RapidKL Sdn Bhd announced on twitter that the technical team are in the midst of troubleshooting the signally system to resolve the issue.

“Delay is expected more than 1 hour. Please seek alternative transportation at the moment. Thank you,” the tweet read.

All trains, it said, are moving in manual mode operation at the moment.

RapidKL had also sent its shuttle buses to key stations to transport commuters to their desired destinations.

Meanwhile for customers who have decided not to continue their journey on the LRT are advised to proceed to the Customer Service counters for a refund.

Commuters who were affected by the delay had expressed their outrage on the social media, with many urging RapidKL to improve its services.

A Facebook user known only as Robert and stranded for about an hour had suggested that the services for Kelana Jaya line should have been improved.

A twitter user @NoraziraRamli said it was stated on the notice board that train services are expected to be back to normal at 11.30pm. She questioned what if the services could not be resumed?

Most commuters have since resorted to other transportation services such as Uber and GrabCar to go home.
