PGM Northport Glenmarie Championship: Battling Snyder wins

MALAYSIA’S Gavin Green squandered a five-shot lead on the final day of the PGM Northport Glenmarie Championships to settle for second place at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club today.

American Blake Snyder came out tops after firing two-under 70 for a 275 total after four days.

Gavin, who lost by one shot in the end, admitted that nerves got the better of him as he struggled to build on an overnight lead.

“I got nervous out there. I was trying too hard and I didn’t give myself a lot of chances.

“I tried to get into position, but it was too late,” said Gavin, who turned professional in June.

Malaysians Low Khai Jei and Sukree Othman were tied in third place on 278.

Two-time winner Danny Chia, R. Nachimuthu, Nicholas Fung, Sutijet Kooratanapisan (Thailand), Jordan Irawan (Indonesia) and Nirun Sae-Ueng (Thailand) were tied in fifth place on 279.
