KUALA LUMPUR: The new Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic (KKKL) in Jalan Fletcher here opened its doors today, raring to cater to up to 3,000 patients a day.
The biggest government health clinic in the country – and the first Super Type 1 Clinic – will replace the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s Outpatient Department, which ended operations today.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said KKKL offers 12 types of health services, including outpatient care, maternal and child care, dental care and pharmacy services.
The clinic also boasts x-ray, nutrition, dietetics, laboratory and rehabilitation facilities.
"In addition, it provides specialised family services that will be headed by family physicians.
"(Based on) the 'Family Doctor Concept', where one health team will cater to residents from a specific area, KKKL doctors will get to know their patients better," he told reporters after the visit.
Hilmi said KKKL, built at a cost of RM50 million, aims to provide services primarily to residents of Kampung Baru, parts of Datuk Keramat, Setapak and Sentul.
"Currently, KKKL is open from 8am to 5pm, and we are looking at extending its operation hours to 10pm in the future," he added.
