SEPANG: The magistrate's court here has fixed May 30 for the mention of a case involving two women charged with the murder of Kim Chol, or Kim Jong-nam.
Indonesian Siti Aishah, 25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28, nodded their head to indicate that they understood the charge read to them for the second time today before Sessions Court judge Harith Sham Mohamed Yasin, who acted as a magistrate.
The two women looked calm and reserved as they were brought handcuffed into the courtroom separately via a staircase from below the courtroom into the dock.
Selangor prosecution director Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad earlier asked for another date to be fixed before the case is transferred to the High Court, pending documents and reports needed for trial.
On March 1, the duo were charged at the magistrate’s court here with four others still at large, with murdering Kim Chol, 45.
Kim Chol was later established to be Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The duo allegedly committed the offence at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) departure hall around 9am on Feb 13.
Their charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
No plea were recorded from them as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The prosecution team also comprised deputy public prosecutors Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam and Mohd Fairuz Johari.
Five lawyers led by Gooi Soon Seng appeared for Siti Aisyah while Thi Huong was represented by counsel Datuk Naran Singh and Hisyam Teh Poh Teik.
