KUALA LUMPUR: A former security guard claimed trial at the High Court today to two terror-related charges.
Zilah Tajuddin, 44, who is from Ipoh, was charged with knowingly supporting the Islamic State (IS) militant group and encouraging terror activities.
She was alleged to have committed both the offences at house No. 79602, Jalan Chenderawasih, Kampung Dato Ahmad Said, Ipoh, between July 5 and July 13, 2016.
Judge Datuk Paduka Azman Abdullah told the unrepresented Zilah, to get legal representation. Both offences carry a jail term of up to 30 years.
He also fixed May 18 for case mention.
Meanwhile, in another court, student Hasrianto Matan claimed trial to three charges of transferring money into a technician's bank account to finance terrorist activities.
Hasrianto, 21, was charged with banking in a total of RM300, via three bank transactions into the bank account of Bukhori Che Noor's, at Maybank USJ branch in Subang Jaya at 5.46pm on April 4, at 9.15pm on May 1 and at 10.32am on June 5, knowingly that the money will be used partly or wholly to finance terror activities.
Bukhori became the first man in Malaysia to be sent to prison for a terror financing offence under Section 130O of the Penal Code.
He was sentenced to seven years' jail on April 10.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman fixed May 26 for mention and document submission.
Deputy public prosecutor Azlina Rasdi appeared for the prosecution in both the cases while Farida Mohamad represented Hasrianto.
