KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from a former deputy president of the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (Yapeim) over a suspected embezzlement case.

The 69-year-old woman was called in to MACC’s headquarters in Putrajaya to facilitate the probe at 1pm today.

A source within the commission said the woman was released about 5pm after having her statement recorded.

It was learnt that the woman is the mother of a senior director, who had been under MACC remand since Wednesday over the same case.

The case is being investigated under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.
