Cops seek 7 men over fracas outside a mosque in Austin Perdana

JOHOR BARU: Police are looking for seven men to assist an investigation into an altercation outside a mosque, Friday prayers, at Taman Austin Perdana here last week.

Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said the photographs of the seven men will be released soon.

"We hope they will go to the nearest police station and surrender themselves first (before releasing the photographs).

"We also hope that anyone who knows their whereabouts to forward us the information," he said.

It was learnt that police have so far detained four people to in connection with the case.

It was reported that a quarrel broke out when a 28-year-old man, driving a car, repeatedly honked outside the mosque during prayers as his car was blocked by another vehicle.

Even after the driver had moved the car, the disgruntled man honked at the person again as he was driving off.

A group of men then approached the victim and started to hit him and his car.

Two videos of the incident, one about 47 seconds long and another, a minute and nine seconds long, have gone viral after they were uploaded on Facebook and shared on WhatsApp.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
