KUALA TERENGGANU: Police are looking for a man, in his 30s or 40s, suspected of molesting a university student near her rented house in Kampung Gong Badak, here, on Tuesday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar said the 21-year-old victim was walking alone near the house when she was approached by the suspect who was riding a motorcycle in the 5.45pm incident.
He said the man then started to make a casual conversation, asking her where she was from before he suddenly started to touch her breasts.
"The suspect then immediately sped off on his machine, leaving the victim in shock," he said.
Idris said the victim lodged a police report at the Gong Badak police station on the same day.
Since she could not remember the suspect's motorcycle type and plate number, he said police were hoping that those with information on the matter to contact the nearest police station.
The case was being investigated under Section 354 of the penal code for molest. If convicted, the suspect could face up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine or whipping or both.
