MELAKA: A 17-year-old teenager with sex addiction allegedly attacked and attempted to molest a Standard Five female student while she was playing with her seven-year-old cousin in a park alley, around 7.40pm.
The suspect violently knocked down the girl riding a bicycle before attempting to molest her in an incident at a residential park in Krubong, here, last Wednesday.
Melaka police chief, Datuk Zainol Samah said the incident report was lodged by the victim's mother at Tanjung Minyak police station on Nov 29 at 9.08pm.
"Based on the report, a 35-year-old housewife said her 11-year-old daughter and seven-year-old cousin told her that an unknown man knocked them off their bicycles in the park's alley.
"The suspect, wearing a yellow helmet, then pulled the victim's leg and attempted to kiss and touch her private parts.
"In a distressing situation, the victim managed to kick the man and save herself," he told Harian Metro today.
Zainol said the Form Five student was successfully apprehended by the public before contacting the police.
He said the suspect was later rearrested by the Tanjung Minyak police station task force.
The case is classified under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
"The suspect is currently remanded for six days from Nov 30 to Dec 5 to allow the police to complete the investigation papers," Zainol added.
