Klang cops solve Indonesian fisherman's murder in less than 8 hours

PORT KLANG: An Indonesian fisherman in Pulau Ketam, near here had his throat slit by his countryman who suspected that he had an affair with his girlfriend.

The murder that occurred inside a house at Bagan Teo Chew was only realised about 9am today when a member of the public stumbled upon the victim's body and notified the police.

Police launched a manhunt immediately and nabbed a 24-year-old man on the island at 4pm today.

Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad said initial investigation revealed that the incident could have caused by the suspect's jealousy over the alleged affair between his girlfriend and the victim.

"The victim, identified as Dani, 25, from Indonesia, was found lying face down inside a room in the house. Checks by Forensics Unit found that the victim was slit on the throat.

"From our initial investigation, we were able to identify the attacker who goes by the nickname 'Bayu'.

"Police detain the suspect on the island about 4pm today," said Alzafny.

The case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
