Sandakan police solve 11 crime cases with arrest of 17

SANDAKAN: Eleven crime cases here have been solved with the recent arrest of 17 people, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said today.

The detainees, comprising nine locals and eight foreigners aged between 19 and 61, were involved in several crimes at various locations, including Batu Sapi, Taman Mawar, Bandar Letat and Sandakan town.

“Two of them are ex-convicts, while the rest tested positive for drugs,” Mohd Azhar said during a press conference here.

He added that police also recovered 32 items, including mobile phones, various tools, a waist pouch, documents, a pick-up truck and a stolen motorcycle.

The cases are being investigated under Section 379A, Section 380, Section 395/397 and Section 457 of the Penal Code for vehicle theft, theft in a building, gang robbery, and burglary, respectively.
