Factory worker punches colleague in the face, fined RM1,200

MELAKA: A factory worker was fined RM1,200 at the magistrate's court here today for punching his colleague in the face at their factory here three months ago.

Md Riduan Ibrahim, 31, from Permatang Duyong, pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him before magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh.

Riduan was charged with intentionally causing hurt to Bong Sin Ping, 48, by punching his face at Yung Chai Glass & Aluminium, Taman Sri Duyung at about 9am on Apr 14, 2017.

He committed the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides a maximum jail sentence of a year or a fine of RM2,000 or both.

Md Riduan who was unrepresented, mitigated for a lower sentencing on the grounds that he had a family to take care of.

Deputy public prosecutor N. Sivashangari urged said she left it to the court for appropriate sentencing.

Magistrate Firdaus then sentenced him to a RM1,200 fine, in default three months in jail for the offence.

Later when met with the press, Sivashangari said Md Riduan was irritated by his colleague who had spoken badly of him.
