Umno's Armand Azha makes police statement over PWTC fracas

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno exco member Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah had his statement recorded by police today over last week’s scuffle between Youth members from Umno and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

In a Facebook posting, Armand said: “At 10.30am, I will go to Dang Wangi police headquarters to assist investigation on PPBM Youth who (accuse me of punching and beating) them at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

“I, as an Umno Youth member, will comply with the law and cooperate with police,” he said.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman confirmed that they had recorded Armand’s statement.

In the July 25 incident, PPBM Youth members were stopped by a group of Umno Youth members as they were marching to the PWTC to hand over an "invitation letter" to Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak to attend the “Nothing to Hide 2.0” forum with PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

An altercation ensued and police were forced to intervene to prevent an escalation.
