Woman fatally stabbed by worker after altercation over financial problems

IPOH: A 49-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her worker, while her boyfriend suffered injuries during a fight in front of a convenience store at Taman Rasi Jaya, Menglembu here.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that police received a call from the public informing of a fight incident involving a sharp object at 10.55am today.

Mohd Yusri said initial investigation showed that the woman was the owner of the mobile phone accessories shop. She died on the spot, believed to have been stabbed by her 54-year-old worker.

"Meanwhile, the second victim, aged 42, who is also the woman's boyfriend, suffered injuries and was rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment.

"The worker also suffered injuries and he was picked up by the police soon after the incident," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Yusri said that the cause of the incident is believed to be the result of a disagreement regarding financial problems between the woman and her worker.

"The suspect had criminal records and he will be taken to the Ipoh Magistrates Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order for the police investigation.

"With the arrest of the suspect, the case is considered settled. Police will complete the investigation papers before being referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor office for further action," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
