Ex-taxi driver claims trial to possession of RM1,500 counterfeit money

KUALA LUMPUR: A former taxi driver claimed trial at the Sessions Court today to possession of forged ringgit notes.

Lim Kok Hooi, 56, was alleged to have had 15 RM100 counterfeit notes in his possession at No 27, Jalan Perdana in Kepong at 9.15pm on July 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Faridah Nurdinie Bahrum did not offer bail and told the court that the offence was a non-bailable one.

However, she said the discretion to grant bail, rested with the court.

Lim, who was unrepresented, said he could only afford a bail amount of RM5,000 and that his younger sister will be his bailor.

Judge Syed Faisal Syed Amir set bail at RM5,000 in one surety; fixed Sept 26 for case mention and for Lim to get legal representation.
