MACC raids Phee's service centre, houses

GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has raided the service centre and houses of Penang Environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh here today.

Phee, who is also Sungai Puyu assemblyman, was escorted by MACC officers into a vehicle at about noon to his service centre in Jalan Ong Yi How here.

Clad in orange MACC lock up T-shirt, the man was seen being escorted in and out of his service centre.

He was then taken to his two houses in Taman Dahlia and Sungai Puyu here.

The officers spent about an hour carrying out searches in each of the premises.

MACC officers were seen leaving the premises with bags of documents seized.

Phee is being remanded for five days pending investigations over an illegal factory in Kampung Sungai Lembu in Bukit Mertajam.

He was detained after he went to the MACC office to have his statement recorded on Friday.

Phee's office on Level 53, Komtar was also raided by MACC officers.

This follows MACC’s raid at the illegal factory in Sungai Lembu on Thursday following complaints from villagers.
