Suspected pusher, couple nabbed in drug buy-bust near KK

KOTA KINABALU: Three people including a woman were detained at Sembulan near here on Monday for suspected drug trafficking.

A team from Kota Kinabalu Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division seized RM25,000 worth of syabu from one of them.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra said the arrest came after the team spotted a couple in a Perodua Kancil "meeting up" with a 23-year-old man on a Yamaha motorcycle at the area at 12.15pm.

They were suspected to be in the middle of a drug transaction, he added.

“When the team approached them, they became aggressive and tried to flee but were apprehended not long after.

“Checks on the first suspect, an unemployed man, saw the seizure of five transparent plastic bags containing 251 grams of syabu in his sling bag.

“There were no illegal items found on the other two, a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both also unemployed.

"(However) They were tested positive for drugs,” he said.

Chandra said checks also showed the 23-year-old suspect has one previous criminal record of drug possession.

All three suspects have been remanded until Aug 28 and the case is being investigated under Section 39b of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking in dangerous drugs.
