21 illegal foreigners rounded up in KK police op

KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested 21 illegal immigrants in the state capital area in an operation yesterday dubbed “Ops Bersepadu”.

The operation took place at six squatter areas here, and in Menggatal and Alamesra.

“Those arrested, aged between 3 and 50, were sent to the central lockup here.

“They are among 52 people who were inspected during the eight-hour operation which began at 1am,” District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said.

Ops Bersepadu involved 74 personnel from the police, the state National Security Council, the Registration Department, City Hall and several other agencies.

Chandra added that City Hall marked the squatter premises housing the illegal immigrants for demolition, while Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd had cut off illegal power connections in the areas.
