Rela man dies after being shot by nephew who stole his shotgun

MACHANG: A People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) member was killed after he was shot by his nephew in Kampung Kerilla near here today.

Police said Rosmadi Abdul Aziz, 49, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a clinic in Temangan.

The 20-year-old suspect, believed to be high on syabu, was arrested shorty after the 1pm incident. Police also seized the victim's shotgun to facilitate investigation.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Dzulkifli Abdul Ghani said while busy repairing a broken pipe outside his home, Rosmadi and his friend were confronted by the suspect.

An argument ensued and the victim ended up being shot in the stomach. Rosmadi's 55-year-old friend was also hurt in the incident.

"Initial investigation showed the suspect had earlier broken into Rosmadi's house and stole the shotgun when the victim was not home.

"When Rosmadi returned later with the friend to repair the broken pipe, the suspect appeared and shot him.

"His friend who was nearby, also suffered injuries,"

He said the case has been classified as murder.
