PUTRAJAYA: The magistrate’s court here today charged a Road Transport Department (RTD) officer with breaking into the RTD’s director-general’s office two months ago.
Syed Abdul Rahman Perman, 35, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
He was accused of breaking into his superior, Datuk Seri Nadzri Siron’s, office at the Transport Ministry building in Presint 4 here at about 1am on July 13.
The charge, under Section 447 of the Penal Code, carries the sentence of imprisonment of up to six months, or a fine of up to RM3,000, or both, if found guilty.
In pleading for minimum bail, the father-of-two told the court that he has not been paid for six months after being suspended from his job.
Magistrate Ainna Sherina Saipulamin allowed the accused RM3,000 bail with one surety and fixed Oct 11 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Izzat Fauzan prosecuted, while Syed Abdul Rahman was represented by counsel S. Mogan.
It was reported that three RTD enforcement officers were detained for allegedly breaking into the Department's director-general’s office in July.
Nadzri has since been transferred to the Human Resources Ministry. He was replaced on Sept 18 by Datuk Shaharuddin Khalid, who formerly headed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's Legal Advisory Office.
