Two ex-convicts held over break-ins

KOTA KINABALU: Two former convicts believed to be involved in several break-ins here and in Penampang have been arrested.

The men, aged 25 and 32, were apprehended at a petrol station in Luyang by Sabah Special Crime Investigation Department officers at 3.30am.

Sabah Criminal investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim said several tools, believed to have been used in the break-ins, were found in the suspects' bags.

"Both suspects are believed to be involved in several break-ins around the city and in Penampang," he said when contacted today.

Azmi said the two were also believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

"The seized items were brought to the district police headquarters in Kota Kinabalu.

"Investigations are ongoing to track down any accomplices of the suspects."

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
