SIBU: A lone gunman shot dead in broad daylight two patrons as other customers looked on in horror at a café here today.
The duo, were shot dead at close range as they were having their meal in Lorong Pahlawan here this afternoon.
The victims were identified as Lau Ngik Yin, 47 and Loh Lik Siong, 21.
Both victims died on the spot in the 12.15pm incident.
Sibu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zailanni Amit said the two victims were with a woman, as well as their friends when the incident took place.
According to the coffee shop operator, the suspect was wearing a helmet and red-coloured jacket and walked coolly over to the victims’ table, he said.
“He later saw and heard the suspect shooting four times in the direction of the victims.
“ The suspect, who was about five metres away from the victims, immediately fled the scene on a motorcycle,” said Zailanni.
He adds that police are tracking down the assailant.
