Housewife found dead with a knife stuck in chest

MELAKA: A housewife was found dead with a knife stuck in her chest at her house in Ayer Keroh yesterday.

Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the police received a report from a Melaka Hospital medical assistant at about 3.30pm regarding the discovery of the body of a woman with a knife stuck in her chest in a toilet at the house.

He said a police team which includes personnel from the forensics department was despatched to the scene.

"Initial investigation showed that the incident occured between 2pm and 3.30 pm. At the time of the incident, the victim was with her seven-year-old child and her husband's 65-year-old aunt.

"Her husband was not at home as he was outstation for work. The victim was fully clothed when found.

"Upon further checks, we found three stab wounds on the left of the victim's chest measuring two to three cm long while knife was stuck on the chest," said Christopher.

He also said there were no signs of a struggle in the inside or outside of the house.

"A check of the CCTV recording showed that there were no one coming in or out of the house through the front or back door," said Christopher.

He said the victim's body was taken to the Melaka Hospital forensics department for a post mortem to determine the cause of death.

"Based on the initial investigation, there were no criminal elements found in the incident while the case has been classified as a sudden death report."
