Penor housewife's murder related to exotic animal trade gone wrong?

KUANTAN: Police are looking at an exotic animal deal gone wrong as one of the possible motives behind the murder of a housewife in Kampung Hijrah, Penor last month.

This comes following the discovery of various types of exotic animals at the victim's house during police investigation and that the attacker is believed to be known to the victim's husband.

"Dispute in exotic animal trading may be behind the murder of a housewife here last month," said Pahang police chief Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman.

He said this today as he revealed the initial finding of the investigation into the killing of Norhasila Ismail in Kampung Hijrah on Sept 29.

"The motive behind the murder is believed to be linked to business or debt...and we found some exotic animals in the victim's house," he said.

Also present at the press conference held at Pahang police headquarters today were state deputy police chief Datuk Azri Ahmad and state Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan.

Rosli said police are looking for Ibrahim Mohd Isa, 41, to assist investigation into the case.

On Sept 29 at 12.30pm, Norhasila's husband found her dead with stab wounds in the living room of their house.

The victim was believed to be murdered at 8am after she had sent her children to school. It was reported that the suspect also locked her youngest son Mohd Aqil Nasrul in the bedroom.

The attacker had also made-off with valuables including the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recording device from the victim's house.

On another matter, Rosli said police are looking for M. Shangkaran Pillai, 19, from Jalan Lipis, Raub to assist in a murder investigation.
