Housewife dies in big bike accident

TAMPIN: A woman died on a weekend ride to her sister's house in Palong 1, Jempol this morning.

In the incident which occured at around 11.20am, the 51-year-old victim, along with her husband, were said to be traveling on a high-powered motorcycle from Ayer Molek, Melaka.

Their BMW skidded at Kilometre 8, Jalan Gemencheh-Batang Melaka.

Tampin District Police Chief, Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said the victim, a housewife, suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"When they reached the scene, suddenly the motorcycle ridden by the 52-year-old man is belived to have veered off the left shoulder of the road before falling on the road," he said in a statement today.

He added that as a result of the accident, the passenger, a woman, suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene, while the rider suffered minor injuries to his right hand.

"The victim's body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Tampin Hospital for post-mortem examination. The post-mortem will be conducted at 6pm today to determine the cause of death," he said.

Therefore, he urged members of the public who have information about the road accident to come forward to the Tampin District Police Traffic Office and can contact at 064412502 or 064431999 Tampin District Police Operations Room to assist in the investigation.

"The investigation file is opened under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the investigation is still ongoing," he said.
