KUALA LUMPUR: A sales manager was charged at the Sessions Court here today for uploading an offensive remark on the police four months ago.
Christopher Khor Chee Ning, clad in blue shirt and black trousers was calm when the charge was read to him before Judge Syed Faisal Syed Amir.
He was charged with uploading a statement, “Damn those police got nothing to do is it? Almost midnight still gave saman for the whole street below apartment. Money sucker” onto his Facebook account at about 7.11am at Block B12-06, PJS Apartment 1/35, Taman Petaling Utama, Petaling Jaya on June 10.
The offence falls under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 which carries a sentence of one year’s imprisonment or a of RM50,000 fine, or both upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Amira Sariaty Zainal prosecuted. Khor was unrepresented.
The court set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed November 15 for mention.
