Woman stabbed by nephew following arguments over his drug habit

TEMERLOH: A 27-year-old woman died after being stabbed in the face and shoulder by her nephew who was armed with a pair of scissors and a knife, at a house at Taman Temerloh Makmur here last night.

In the 9.30pm incident, victim Robiatul Ain Mahamod had accused the 26-year-old suspect of taking drugs and stealing from the house, and they got into an argument.

Angered by her allegations, he stabbed her repeatedly in her face and shoulder with a knife and the scissors, leaving her bleeding in the living room.

She was rushed to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS) where she died while receiving treatment.

Pahang Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan confirmed the incident and said the deceased was the daughter of a police sergeant attached to the district police station.

"Angry with the accusations, the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim in the face and shoulder.

"During the incident, only the victim and suspect were in the house although the victim's husband and younger brother also lived there," he said.

Othman said that a neighbour heard the victim quarrel with a man, and quickly contacted the victim's father and younger brother.

"When the victim's father and brother arrived at the house, they found the front door locked, which they broke to get in.

"On entering the house, they found the victim on the floor in the living room and they quickly took her to the hospital. However the victim was pronounced dead an hour later," he said.

Othman said the suspect was successfully apprehended at 10pm last night, when he was discovered hiding at the back of an empty house located around 70m from the scene of the crime.

"In the garage of the (empty) house, we recovered the knife and scissors used in the incident. Investigation is still ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code (for murder)," he said.
