Car wash worker dies after being shot in his face and head

MUADZAM SHAH: With blood seeping from the injuries on his face and head, a car wash worker managed to call his younger brother for help after he was shot twice with a shotgun by an unidentified man at a workers' quarters at Felda Keratong Dua here early today.

In the 12.10am incident, the victim, only known as Zubir, who was in his 30s, was rushed to Muadzam Shah Hospital by his brother before being transferred to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Kuantan.

The Indonesian, who had lived in Malaysia for four years, died at HTAA at 12noon today.

A source who declined to be identified said that prior to the shooting the victim was involved in a quarrel with his wife and he threatened to divorce her and return to his home at Aceh, Indonesia, on Saturday.

"During the quarrel, the victim's wife (as well as the victim) were at his employer's house in the same Felda settlement and the victim had then warned his employer not to interfere in their (domestic) problem," said the source when contacted.

According to the source, after the quarrel the victim returned to the workers' quarters, and while leaving had told his wife "We shall see who dies" before he was approached by two men at 12.10am.

The source said the victim was shot in the face and head with a shotgun wielded by one of the men, and the duo fled the scene.

"The victim managed to contact his younger brother, who is also a car wash worker who lives at Felda Keratong Tiga, for help, and his brother promptly rushed to the scene.

"The victim's younger brother then contacted the victim's employer to seek assistance to send the victim to Muadzam Shah Hospital, before being transferred to HTAA due to serious injuries," the source said.

Meanwhile when contacted, Rompin police chief Deputy Superintendent Azli Mohd Noor confirmed receiving the report on the incident.

"The victim was pronounced dead at 12pm today (at HTAA) while receiving treatment, and his body was then sent to HTAA's morgue for post-mortem," he said.

Azli said police were hunting for the suspects and the case was being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
