Man takes toddler along to get drug fix while wife is under confinement at home

BALING: He was supposed to look after his 3-year-old son as his wife is under confinement after delivering their baby, however this junkie ended taking the boy along as he itched to get his fix.

The 34-year-old man was among the 27 junkies rounded up in separate 'Ops Perdana' by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) in Baling district early Wednesday.

Nada Baling officer Arnida Ishak said the man was detained during a bust at drug haunt in Kampung Padang Cik Mas, Pulai.

"The man could not flee from the raiding party as he had his young son with him.

"We have sent the child back to home and it saddened us upon learning that the boy's mother is under confinement after delivering her baby while the husband took their boy along to get his fix," she said.

Arnida said in the 10-hour Ops Perdana, which began at 1am, the agency had rounded up 25 junkies over separate raids at Kampung Parit Panjang, Teloi Kanan and Padang Cik Mas.

She said all the junkies aged between 19 and 50, tested positive of morphine and methamphetamine.

She added that one of the junkies, who was placed under supervision, would be sent to the prison for violating his rehabilitation terms.
