Abused Septuagenarian dies from injuries

KLANG: A 70-year-old woman, beaten by her son-in-law on several occasions, succumbed to her injuries, here, yesterday

The Septuagenarian died while receiving treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR).

Klang South district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli said the woman’s stepdaughter, 36, had filed a complaint against her husband over the incident.

“The woman found that her stepmother was beaten by her husband several times from May to October, this year at their house in Teluk Pulai.

“However, she was afraid to reveal this matter to the family since her husband had threatened to kill her,” he said.

Shamsul said the the woman, who is working as an insurance agent has been living with her stepmother since young.

He said the woman had on Oct 28 found that her stepmother’s condition had worsened and called for an ambulance.

“The victim, who was unconscious was taken to the HTAR, but succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the ward at 9.40am today. The postmortem was completed at 7.30pm.”

Shamsul said the cause of death was injury to the head due to blunt force trauma.

He said the suspect, a prawn noodle stall vendor was under the impression that his wife wanted a divorce because of the victim.

He said the 43-year-old suspect, described as a hot-tempered man has since absconded.

“A search is taking place to locate the suspect.”
